Leer D. Thompson
Leer Thompson is a Florida-based trial attorney born in Long Island, New York. Leer graduated with her Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Thereafter, Leer moved to South Florida, where she attended law school and earned her Juris Doctorate at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law. In Law School, Leer was awarded by receiving the Dean’s Award for going above and beyond with providing pro bono hours. She was also a member of the Nova Trial Association and was Vice President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund.
Before graduating Law School, Leer completed an Certified Legal internship at the Broward County State Attorney’s Office where she actively handled motions to suppress, final violations of probation, detentions, and trials, from inception through final disposition. She also handled 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree misdemeanors, and 3rd degree felonies, in addition to attending depositions and preparing discovery. Leer began her legal career working as an Assistant Public Defender in Broward County for 6 years where she took numerous depositions, argued countless motions, and tried several cases in front of Juries ranging from First Degree Misdemeanors to First Degree Felonies such as Homicides.
Now as a Litigation Attorney, Leer focuses on personal injury, criminal, insurance, as well as a variety of other civil litigation areas.
In addition to her work as an Attorney, Leer Thompson enjoys spending her spare time with her daughter and husband, as well as painting, traveling, and going to the beach. As a lover of dogs, art, life, and justice, Leer is also passionate about rescuing dogs and currently cares for four rescue dogs.
